Last Monday, Coachella announced its line up for it’s 2012 festival, which included a handful of cult favorites, its-about-time reunions and three sick headliners. Last Friday, tickets went on sale and were sold out in less than 3 hours, for both weekends. Yes, two weekends.
Last June, Coachella threw all of its fans a curve ball when, two months after Coachella 2011, they announced that they were having a pre-sale for the 2012 festival AND that it was expanding to two weekends. Here’s the kicker, it won’t be weekends with different bands, but with the exact same bands playing the same schedule.
How delightful!
Fast forward to the present, Coachella 2012, over two weekends, is sold out! And how can it not be with probably the most unforeseen line-up (and in my opinion probably the best) in it’s history. Headliners — The Black Keys, Radiohead and Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg lead some of the most exciting and inspiring bands in recent times. Pulp, Refused and At The Drive-In are all reuniting with a stop-in at Coachella (Pulp started their reunion a year ago). A grab bag of well-known acts like Florence and the Machine, Bon Iver and Swedish House Mafia mix with hipster darlings like Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds, Amon Tobin and DJ Shadow. I could name the whole line-up, but you should just look at the following picture yourself.
See you at Coachella (the select few of you that managed to get tickets)!
